St Issy 2017 Group 2 Day 4

St Issy 2017 Group 2 Day 4

St Issey 2013 06 October 2017

We have had another action packed day in St Issey. We had an early start to our final day and set off to the picturesque south coast of Cornwall. When we arrived at Loe Beach we split in to two teams ready to take part in today’s water sport activities.

The paddleboarders split in to three teams and headed out in to the estuary on a giant raft, coming up with their own chants to help them keep their paddling in sync. The particularly effective ‘Go Chocolate Eclairs’ helped one group speed off! It was great to see the students working so hard as a team and enjoying themselves. There were various other activities on the paddleboards such as, moving around the board and seeing who could be king of the raft by pushing everyone else off. All ended up soaked but with smiles on their faces.

The first group of kayakers went out to sea with confidence until 20 seconds in when Dakota ended up in the water even though the water was only ankle deep. After a shaky start all students had become competent enough to try and partake in some games. There were lots of games for this group, such as reaching a target while being splashed by the defending instructors. Then the instructors launched sponges around the estuary for the students to chase.

After a quick sandwich lunch the teams swapped and were ready to go again.

We have been very lucky to have good weather to complete these activities and everyone has thoroughly enjoyed taking part, and if they were honest, even enjoyed falling in!

Back at the Manor House we were in for a treat with a warm supper of Spaghetti Bolognese before heading off for a nice swim at the local leisure centre…much nicer then the cold sea! Everyone returned happy and tired ready for an early night before the final bike ride and the long journey back to London tomorrow.
