Following the inspection of the school by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) on 7th and 8th February 2018, Kew House is pleased to publish the report in PDF format.

The report is also be available on the ISI’s website.

Our Ofsted inspection report from 2014 (PDF 235KB) (when the school first opened) will continue to be available.

As many of you will be aware, the inspection system has changed recently. Schools are now inspected more regularly and alternate inspections focus solely on legal compliance. This inspection was a legal compliance inspection and, as you will see from the report, it is very short and merely states if the legal standards have been met or not. The process is no less rigorous and the inspectors work to a high level of detail.  The report does not make any quality judgements about the school, as was the case when we were last inspected by Ofsted in 2014, we either pass or fail on each criterion. There were eight areas where judgements were made:

  • Quality of education provided
  • Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
  • Welfare, health and safety of pupils
  • Suitability of staff, supply staff, and proprietors
  • Premises of and accommodation at schools
  • Provision of information
  • Manner in which complaints are handled
  • Quality of leadership in and management of schools

Although it is a rather legalised document to read, Kew House is very pleased to announce that the school comfortably met the standards in all the areas above and there were no recommendations for improvement. Accordingly, no further action is required to meet the compliance standards.

The feedback from the inspectors was given to Mrs Maria Gardener, the Proprietor, the Board of Directors, Senior Management team and to the Head Teacher at the time, Mr Hudson. Mr Hudson was particularly delighted to learn from the lead inspector that the results of the student and parent questionnaires were the most positive they had ever seen, and asked him to pass on her thanks to both students and staff for making the inspectors so welcome during their time with us.

Although it is pleasing to hear such positive news, Kew House School will never be complacent.

We are confident that the school will continue to develop best practice and to provide the very highest of standards to ensure that every child receives the best possible education and care.
